Book Salon: Author Reading and Signing

Kate de Gutes

North Star Village member and author Kate de Gutes, winner of the 2016 Oregon Book Award, will offer a reading from her newest collection of essays, The Authenticity Experiment: Lessons from the Best & Worst Year of my Life. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

According to Marianne, "We're excited to host our friend Kate and her new book as she leads readers into authentic moments when she's grieving the loss of her mother, or singing the virtues of friendship. Kate de Gutes' first book, Objects in the Mirror Are Closer than they Appear, won the Oregon Book Award and the Lambda Literary Award.

Please contact Marianne at 503-841-6514 or mlabarre@seattleu.edu with questions, for location, and to RSVP. When you
RSVP, and we will pre-order The Authenticity Experiment for you, so that you can have it signed by Kate the evening of the Salon. Books are $17, and you can pay Kate directly at the Salon. North Star Village Members will receive the discount price of $12. (We’re happy to place an order for you even if you are not able to attend - please just note your request in your RSVP.) If you’d like to bring someone, we’d love that; please let us know as well. You can also get a bundle with both Kate's books for $25 and save $8 off retail.

Buying books directly from the author helps dramatically, as authors typically make about $.90 on books sold through channels like Amazon and Powell's.  Please help us support this author.

Seating is limited so please RSVP as soon as you can, at the latest by January 17, by contacting
Marianne at 503-841-6514 or mlabarre@seattleu.edu
